Sean Loren, Director of Research: With 25+ years of experience drawing investment conclusions from complex insider trading and other SEC filings related to compensation and governance, Sean acts as our Director of Research and has overall responsibility for research content. Sean has close relationships with many of 3DA's clients and focuses on providing quick and pro-active service. Previously, Sean worked at First Call Corp. (Thomson Reuters) as a Director of Research where he managed a group of analysts that produced broadly-distributed insider trading research products for the institutional, retail and media markets. Sean holds a BA degree in Finance from Elon University, and an MBA from the University of Miami. Sean joined 3DA in 2003.
Marisa Thompson, CFA, Senior Fundamental Analyst: Marisa is a former analyst and portfolio manager with 7+ years of experience at well-known short-biased hedge funds, including Kynikos Associates Ltd. and Spring Point Capital (previously Botti Brown). Her experience in investigating frauds, structural shorts, industry themes, quality of earnings issues and debt-financed asset bubbles is put to good use when combined with our detailed trading analysis, which together form the basis of our investment theses. Marisa holds a BA in Economics-Accounting from Claremont McKenna College, and an MBA from the University of Chicago. Marisa joined 3DA in 2012.
Beth M. Tangney, Senior Insider Trading Analyst: With 20 years of experience at Merrill Lynch focused on liquidity management and diversification strategies for senior corporate executives and holders of concentrated positions in control and restricted stock, Beth performs research on the trading activity and compensation structures of executives at public companies. She utilizes her experience structuring insider transactions to analyze and draw investment conclusions from current and historical insider trading filings, proxy statements, employment agreements, and other related public filings. Beth is a member of the National Association of Stock Plan Professionals (NASPP) and serves as a non-public arbitrator for FINRA. She received a BA degree from The University of California at Berkeley. Beth joined 3DA in 2014.
Michael Gabovich, Senior Fundamental Analyst: Michael is a fundamental analyst and generalist. He spent 6 years at Glenrock Asset Management, a global short-biased fund, developing some of the fund's largest and most successful short positions. Michael applies strong modeling skills and a data-intensive approach to the companies where we have identified noteworthy shifts in executive trading patterns to develop compelling investment ideas. He holds a BS in Finance and Actuarial Science from New York University. Mike joined 3DA in 2015.
Mary DeJulis, Senior Insider Trading Analyst: Prior to 3DA, Mary spent 10 years at Goldman and Charles Schwab, working directly with corporate executives. Her extensive knowledge of the '33 and '34 Acts and expertise in restricted stock transactions, 10b5-1 plans, and other aspects of the process of diversifying a concentrated stock position enable Mary to uncover important but often overlooked details in the relevant SEC filings. Mary holds a BS degree from the University of Utah and an MBA from Westminster College. Mary joined 3DA in 2021.
